If you want a fence that keeps things secure but does not block your view, ornamental fencing is a great choice in Minnesota and North Dakota.
At Sonyx Fencing, we build ornamental fences for homes and businesses in Grand Forks and nearby North Dakota and Minnesota towns. Our fences are made to stay straight, strong, and good-looking through wind, snow, and time.
Ornamental fencing is popular for front yards, pools, businesses, and any place where looks and strength both matter.
Ornamental fencing is a metal fence made from steel or aluminum. It is built to be strong while still looking clean and open.
Unlike chain link, ornamental fencing gives you better looks and clear lines while still giving security.
When installed right, ornamental fencing gives a sharp, professional look for both homes and businesses.
Chain link fencing is often chosen because it is practical and cost-effective. It does the job, but it does not offer the same visual appeal.
Ornamental fencing provides a cleaner, more finished look while still offering strong security. It adds curb appeal, has straighter lines, and brings more value to areas that face the street or are more visible.
If you want both security and appearance, ornamental fencing is the better long-term choice.
Want this for your yard? It starts with an on-site visit.
Unlike a privacy fence, an ornamental fence has open pickets — prairie wind passes straight through instead of pushing on it. Around Grand Forks and Fargo, the real enemy is under the ground: frost movement in clay-heavy Red River Valley soil tips shallow-set posts a little more every winter, and a metal fence shows a lean immediately. We set every post deep below the frost-movement zone, so the lines stay as straight as the day they went in.
Both steel and aluminum handle this climate well: powder-coated finishes shrug off freeze-thaw moisture, and you get the classic wrought-iron look without the rust or the upkeep.
We install ornamental fences across our ND and MN service area, including Grand Forks, East Grand Forks, Fargo, Thief River Falls, Crookston, and Bemidji.

Ornamental fencing is a step up in price from chain link, and the final number depends on height, total length, gates, and the style you choose. We provide a written quote after an on-site visit — we do not estimate over the phone.
Steel is the stronger of the two and the usual choice where security comes first. Aluminum is lighter, will not rust, and suits decorative runs and pool surrounds. Both come with durable powder-coated finishes and give you the wrought-iron look without the maintenance — we help you pick based on what the fence needs to do.
